Everybody wants amazing abs. The trick? Eat clean and work them consistently; 2-3 times each week and to fatigue each and every time.
Last spring, I had abs that I was proud of. I had all but eliminated added sugar from my diet and was training hard and consistently. Lots of all abs workouts.

Sadly, those abs are currently in hiding. Thanks to an injury that side-lined my training for much of the summer and a few too many trips to the ice cream shop
In fact, in response to a recent photo I posted on Instagram, somebody actually asked if I was pregnant! (Note, doesn’t everyone know that you NEVER ask a woman if she’s pregnant, not unless she’s on the way to the hospital to deliver???)

But I’m determined. Those abs will reappear by Christmas time, come hell or Halloween treats (of which I’m having NONE!).
Today’s #FatblasterFriday is an all abs workout, baby.
ABSolutely amazing abs will be yours (and mine!) if you just commit to doing this workout 3 times per week. And don’t forget to progress the exercises (make them harder, that is), to keep on stimulating muscle growth and abdominal definition!
#FatblasterFriday Amazing All Abs Workout
1a. Plank + leg abduction (15 reps)
1b. Side plank + core rotation (15 reps)
Repeat 1a and 1b on opposite side
2a. V-sit push-aways (15 reps)
2b. V-sit + core rotation (15 reps each side)
Repeat 2a and 2b
3a. Diagonal crunch with foot on knee (15 reps)
3b. Reverse bridge glute squeeze with leg press (15 reps)
Repeat 3a and 3b on opposite side

Great moves. I pretty much do all of those other than the last 2. Haven’t done the diagonal crunch in eons!

I love working my obliques. Rotational abs exercises rock!
Hurray! You know I have been wating for this workout… will be doing it today for sure … I am so glad that you posted the list of exercises too so I will know what to be prepared to do! hahaha I should say TRY to do.

Thanks for sharing it Elle! It was a surprisingly good burn for the old mid-section (and I only had to do it twice during filming…)
I subscribed to you on You Tube. Now when I’m on vacation and need a short work out and don’t want to go to the hotel gym, I’ll know where I can turn.

Hooray! Thanks for helping push me in this direction Carrie. It was your comment that you’d buy a workout DVD from me that made me think about real time workouts!
Glad to hear it! Would love if you did something with a band or other body weight workouts (like this great ab workout you did today!) to do in hotel rooms. I do bring workout DVDs, but sometimes there’s not much space in the room or much time before meetings/conferences, etc. Mini-travel workouts are great!

You got it!
Well I don’t know what was going on with that pic, maybe you were really bloated that day but I can honestly say your tummy does not look like that. See you Sunday! Guess we will be working our abs.
Love all these moves Tamara. This looks like a great workout. Hmmm, maybe I need to cut back my sugar a bit more
Um and you NEVER ask a woman if she’s pregnant!!!

Sugar is a huge issue for me. When I ditch it, I look better, feel better and don’t crave it at all. Add just a little back in and whammo, it’s everywhere and I want more, more, more!
Yay, Elle saw this, as I know she was looking for full workouts. Yesterday I did an abs workout with my strength class, and even I was shaking by the end of class. I had to eat some cinnamon toast to recover! If anyone asks me if I’m pregnant, I’ll push them down the stairs with my belly!

Elle was one of the primary reasons I started making real time workout vids. And Bex of course; she said ‘do it with them’ and she seems to know what she’s talking about!
Like the Ab workout, one of the areas I least like to work out so this will be a great go to workout to do 3 x week, hoping for those great abs soon. And yes you NEVER ask a woman if she’s pregnant and you certainly don’t in that pic, I was asked once too. Tks!
I don’t love training abs, either Jennifer. But I do love what abs training does for my mid-section! Get on it girl!
GREAT VIDEO!!!!! Love it!!!! Yes, we have to progress AND change it up! Just like other body parts, doing the same thing over & over it a recipe for stagnation.
I think you look amazing & that somebody would ask if you were pregnant – NOT!!!! Your butt looks great in that video!

PS: Forgot to say YES – abs are made in the kitchen too! As you said… can’t see them if something is covering them!

Jody, I always tell my clients that ‘abs are built in the gym, but revealed in the kitchen’. Gets them thinking, for sure!
OH Crap – that is what I meant!

You and me both! FitBloggin food was great, but the Cheesecake Factory started me on a slow decline into sweet treats!
Did this again just now and I was able to do a bit more than yesterday. Hurray! Great challenging workout Tamara. So happy to have it at my fingertips. Thanks so much.
I am really struggling with the push out exercise and my lower back. Doing it with one leg at a time doesn’t seem enough though. Any tips? Should I just keep trying it?
Elle recently posted..Checking in – Being Accountable to Myself
Does your lower back hurt when you do the V-sit push aways, Elle?
If so, first line of defence is to engage glutes, abs and inner thighs to protect. Practice tucking your tail between your legs (a funny cue, but it works).
If 1 leg on the floor is too easy, try legs up, as in the video, but limit how far back you lean your upper body. Lower backs are notoriously weak; you need to build up strength there gradually! Could also try some supermans on the floor to help strengthen.
Thanks so much for all of your shout outs! I really appreciate the encouragement and sharing!
I am going to try this advice when I do the vid again tomorrow. I admit I sorta skip lower back work when it comes up on my DVDs so I am sure that is my problem.
Thanks!

Thanks for the ab workout! My goal is to fit abs in 3 times per week. Haven’t reached that goal yet but I’m working towards it! MUST get abs!
