Bathroom beauty bootcamp: straight sets between skin care steps

Yesterday was just about the busiest day I’ve had in a long time.

My hubby is away on travel (funny how I appreciate him most when he’s away) and I have three kids who need to be in three different places all at once. Between the back and forth shuffles to schools, the challenge centre, after school Mad Science Camp, an evening Cub meeting and an evening group training session, I had clients to see and meals to prepare. Add to that a crappy night’s sleep thanks to a very large bear, determined to get into my bear proof (ha!) kitchen and yard waste bin or wake the whole neighbourhood up trying.

Believe me when I say there was very little time for any sort of a workout. Yet somehow, I managed to squeeze one in; during morning bedroom clean up and the (many) steps of my skin care routine (one of the advantages of the Arbonne RE9 system!). I’m calling it my bathroom beauty bootcamp!

Arbonne skin care

Pushups to fatigue. Make bed. More pushups. Choose clothes for the day. Last set of pushups. Jump into shower.

Dumbbell lateral raises to fatigue. Wash face. More lateral raises. Spritz on toner. Last set of lateral raises. Apply serum.

Bicep hammer curls to fatigue. Moisturize. More hammer curls. A little primer. Last set of hammer curls. Foundation and mascara.

Arms done. Face done. Clothes on and I’m out the door.

Imagine how much I could accomplish during my weekly 7 minute cellular renewal masque?

Where could you find 10 minutes in your busy day for a workout?

Please don’t forget to enter my giveaway for Kirri White and Deb Dane’s ‘30 Day Self Care Blueprint‘; a guided, online self-care course for moms who might need a little help taking care of themselves! All you need to do is comment on this post. I’ll be drawing one random winner’s name Thursday evening and announcing them here, on my blog, Friday morning.

Disclaimer: I have no relationship with Arbonne Canada other than a love of their skin care products and the friendship of one of their hardest working consultants!

Funny, Jody, I always think of YOU as superwoman!
I’m off to yoga this morning, to lengthen, repair and reflect!

  2. Lyndsy Pahl says:

Tamara I loooove this routine. You are amazing! Thanks for showing off your love of Arbonne and your love of taking care of your body despite the odds being stacked against you! I am going to drop off another product for you to try after that taxing workout: Arbonne’s Herbal Muscle Massage Gel. Made with capsicum!

    The hardest working Arbonne consultant!

    • Tamara says:

Looking forward to trying the massage gel!
P.S. How did you know I was talking about YOU!

  3. Very impressive! Sometimes making dinner can allow for a mini-workout, depending on what you’re cooking of course. But if something needs to simmer, you can work in some squats and lunges while your culinary masterpiece is perfecting. 🙂

    • Tamara says:

I too have squatted in the kitchen! But Monday, I did lots of legs and thought I’d leave them alone for a bit!

  4. When we were doing our Patriot Push-up Challenge, I would do push-ups anywhere, anytime. I think the people who get the most done are those who are the busiest, because we know how to schedule, knowing we’re doomed otherwise. And your skin looks gorgeous in all the pics I’ve seen.

    • Tamara says:

You know it! I’m much more energized by a busy day than a lazy one. I think it has something to do with the introvert/extrovert spectrum.
As for my skin, I’m pale and freckly, so a lifetime of minimizing sun exposure to my face is finally paying off!

  5. The way you phrased that first sentence in your response to me gave me a good laugh. Then again, I have a thing for adolescent humor. Those more sophisticated folks will rise to higher levels. 🙂

  6. I LOVE this, Tamara! Way to #makeitcount and get it done! 😀 Totally makes sense to me and I love how you made it happen despite being busy and having (legitimate) excuses. 🙂 Love Arbonne too – my friend’s a consultant! I can’t afford their products right now, but after sampling some I know how great they are!

    • Tamara says:

Bonnie, you know that if you host a party you can get some great discounts off your own order! Initially I thought the products were too expensive as well, but if you do the math (and get the discounts), there’s not too much difference between a Lancome or other department store brand. And, at almost 45, my skin has never looked better (I’ve been using RE9 for about 2 months now).

We need a word for ‘legitimate excuse’. It’s not really an excuse any more, if it’s legitimate!

  7. I like to do pushups in the bathroom and the kitchen too against the counters while I am waiting for something! Your cosmetics look lovely too!

    I tweeted this post –

Arbonne is great (and addicting!). My Arbonne consultant comes to my fitness classes and loves to tell me about new products.

  10. Way to get it done! Where there’s a will there’s a way. I can think of loads of people who could stand to read this and see.

Ha, I so agree! Wondering if any of my clients are reading this and thinking that I’m talking about them!

  11. I love working out this way- I sometimes have days where I do little sets of exercises all day long. Do this- 10 squats, do that- 10 pushups. You do more that way too without even noticing it

    • I’ve had to do quick bathroom workouts all week. Not enough time to get in a full hour at the gym, but just enough to fit a bit of strength training in!

  12. Love your creative fitness-thinking brain. 🙂 Great tips! And I can vouch for Arbonne. Fantastic skin care products.

    • Thanks August!
My Arbonne consultant-friend dropped off a tube of muscle massage gel for me today. Can’t wait to try it and see if it helps undo all the kinks I created over the last 3 days of teaching too many classes!

  13. Pierrine says:

I love your beauty stuff. I really like to do pushups in my bathroom. I’m having fun before I got to work doing busy inside my bathroom. I really love your skin care products.
