Adventurous April; put some adventure in yours!

This week, Lindsay asked the Tuesday Trainers to take a break from exercise (well, filming exercise, to be specific; I’ll definitely be getting my workouts in this week…) and film ourselves someplace we usually don’t. It’s all part of ‘Adventurous April‘; a challenge from Janetha at Meals and Moves to encourage people to get out of their comfort zones and do something different and new to them.

I don’t know about you, but my life is not very adventure-filled.

Most days, the biggest adventures I partake in involve,

  • postponing going to the grocery store, gambling that they’ll be enough milk for coffee in the morning
  • hitting the ‘publish’ button on a blog post (what if it sucks?)
  • choosing downward dog instead of child’s pose in yoga class
  • eating dark chocolate after dinner (it might ruin my sleep)
  • ‘winging’ my patterns in step class

Perhaps the only truly adventurous thing I did this week was wear a crop top to the gym (I NEVER bare my belly, so I’m claiming this as an EPIC adventure!).

With the goal of capturing something adventurous on film, I took my camera with me on a recent family outing into town. Understand that I live in the suburbs; heading into Vancouver constitutes an adventure in my books.

As I pieced together and edited my video footage, I realized that I desperately need to get out of my rut. My ‘Adventurous April’ video wasn’t really adventurous at all! (Note to self, negative advertising is not the way to get people to watch your video or visit your blog)

  2. The site is looking so good! And your mid section looks fab in the gym photo! You should be very proud.
    Maybe adventurous can be trying a new class or teaching your kids a few moves:) I guess I am not that adventurous either!

      I AM going to try a new class tomorrow. My sis is taking me to her Dailey Method class and afterwards were spinning across the border to hit Trader Joe’s! I’m hoping to find some good eats for my April Foodie PenPal!

    • You should come for a visit! Vancouver is very family friendly (but rainy in the winter, so much better to come July or August).
      About the abs, not sure where they came from. They’ve been in hiding for a very long time…
      I’m guessing it’s the yoga; only thing I’m doing differently!

  5. Holy abs Tamara, looking great, And you made Vancouver shine! It is such a beautiful city…. Hey for your April Adventure you could do Wild Play at Maple Ridge, I took my guys there last year and did it, (we did the harder course) and my core, arms and legs got a great workout. It was so much fun, I had to overcome my little fear of heights. I did it ;)…anyway it is a must do, if you haven’t already done it. I think you would love it.

    • I love Wild Play! We did it while at Whistler last summer. I found the highest points on the course very scary and couldn’t look down. And talk about a great core workout! Wouldn’t it be fun to get a bunch of girlfriends and go out there on a sunny day?

  6. First of all, it dawned on me this morning that I hadn’t seen a post from you in awhile. So I searched for your site and discovered you have migrated from WordPress (I remember you saying you were doing so). So I am pleased to now be following you again.

    And second of all. Those be some awesome abs! Flaunt those babies for all their worth. You’ve earned every ridge of them. 🙂
