Friday Fitness Blog Hop; My first post

Hi! I’m Tamara; personal trainer, group fitness instructor, healthy lifestyle coach, wife, mother and knitter.

My family and I just got back from an eight-day road trip (come back tomorrow for a recap!). Lots of fun, but not as much exercise and healthy eating as my body is used to. Spin class is gonna hurt tonight…

Given the smooshy feeling I have around my middle, I thought I’d finally start the menu plan in Tosca Reno’s ‘The Eat Clean Diet Stripped’. Twenty-eight days of planned menus and back-to-clean-eating nutrition tips.

I’ve made my grocery list. Lots of fresh veggies and fruits. Some bison tenderloin, tilapia, salmon, turkey and chicken breasts. Egg whites, quinoa, brown rice and teff (a new grain for me).

What won’t be appearing on my dinner plate? Dairy, processed foods, bread, pasta or sugar.

Along with my usual teaching and training schedule, I’m hoping this meal plan will firm up my midsection and boost my energy levels.

Looking forward to “meeting” all of you!

  1. This is also my first week with fitness friday blog hop. I am sooooo not a knitter. But I hope that your menus will inspire me. I have always wanted to be someone who makes great meals. Need some guidance and inspiration to get there… I will be back.

    • Welcome! I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen! I’m also happy to share! Now I’m off to visit your blog!

Edited to add; tee hee, already visited you this morning! So many new to me bloggers to keep everybody straight!

  2. Hey there! I’m glad to find your blog! I’m a former fitness instructor- let all my certs lapse when I had kids so I’m working on updating them one at a time…. Looking forward to reading more!

Also I didn’t see a GFC so I went ahead and subscribed to your blog.

Hope you can stop by mine:

  3. Hey new friend! Great blog. I’m stopping over from the blog hop. I love vacations but STRUGGLE with eating healthy during them. I’ve never done a body cleanse before. Need to give it a try. Looking forward to following your blog. You have the funnest job EVER!!

    • Hi Nikki! Great to meet you. I am loving Jill’s blog hop idea; so many interesting, funny, inspiring writers out there. Looking forward to reading more of your blog!

  4. Fitness and knitting?! I’m glad I found you from the Fitness Blog Hop and I’m glad because I really like both of those things.
I have tried some of the recipes from Clean Eating Magazine, and liked them, but think I might find it difficult to eat that way all the time because I am not much of a meat eater.

    • Dina,
There are a lot of chicken breast and fish dinners in Clean Eating, but the cookbooks give lots of non animal alternatives. It’s just a bit trickier to get your protein in. I started the 28 day, last 10 pounds meal plan from one of Tosca Reno’s cookbooks just today. I enjoyed all the meals, but am a bit hungry! Not as many carbs as I ate on holiday!

  5. Here from Jill’s blog hop! Knitting…I really tried to get into it once, but it didn’t happened. With two little ones and work, I only have time for one hobby and that’s running! 🙂 Looking forward to following your blog.

    • Hi Marisa,
Exercise and knitting are my only two hobbies; I have three kids and I hear you about lack of time!
Trust me, it does get easier to juggle it all. I get my knitting in while waiting for them at Tae Kwon do lessons and I’m a group fitness and spinning instructor, so I get my exercise on the job!
      Great to “meet” you!

  6. I started clean eating in May and that was one of the best decisions ever! I was amazed by the difference it made. I post a weekly clean eating menu on Sun if you’re interested and it might be helpful.

Thanks for linking up with FF!

    • Thanks Jill for hosting the link up. I have been using the meal plans in Clean Eating mag for a couple of years now, but love to get new ideas, so I’ll be sure to visit!

  7. Here from Jill’s blog hop and just back from a few days away and I definitely need a new diet/clean eating habit. I’ve heard quite a bit about Tosca? Would you recommend the book?

    • Hi and Welcome!
Yes, Tosca’s books rock. I have 3 of her cookbooks, 1 menu plan book and a workout guide. Depending on what you’re looking for, I could recommend a title. Do you need an introduction to CE? Want lots of recipes? Need workout advice? Menu plans for dropping weight? Including the last ten pounds? Family style clean eating? Let me know and I’ll send you in the right direction!
